Services for Max Wayne “Hoot” Childress, 56, of Gilmer will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday M ay 30, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Bro. James Young officiating. Burial will follow at Gilmer City Cemetery.

Mr. Childress was born on April 15, 1957, to Johnny and Jo Dean Childress in Gilmer, Texas and passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013, at Beacon Hospice in Longview. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Childress also worked most of his life and was an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny & Jo Dean Childress; brothers, Johnny Roy and Rex Levell Childress.

Mr. Childress is survived by his brother, David Franklin Childress of Gilmer; sister, Betty L. Gibson and Mike of Gilmer; aunt, Patsy Geier of Ore City; niece, Vanessa Gibson of Gilmer; brother-in-law, Phillip Gibson of Gilmer.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
